The Athenian Church is a denomination that fits all sizes. These are those that always want to hear some new thing. Almost all churches today would fit under the Athenian church denomination. Think about ii? The New Apostolic Reformation, the Restored Church of God, almost any Pentecostal Church, every single cult, and the list could go on forever. What all these things have in common is something that sets them apart from the rest. Usually it’s extra biblical Revelations which only they seem to have. They are always seeking something new. To my way of thinking the Bible doesn’t need any new things as it stands on its own quite well as it is. There are stern warnings in the Bible about adding to the word of God. Do not add to his words lest he reprove you and you be found a liar and that is found in Proverbs 30 verse 6. Why do we need to hear a new thing? It would seem that we would be satisfied with the 66 books in the Bible? Why do we need a book of Mormon or a science and health with key to the scriptures. If the body of Christ, which is the true Church, would stand up to all these counterfeits they all may just go away. In the early chapters of Acts, many times you hear this phrase, they spoke the word with boldness. Where has the boldness gone today? The Bible needs no additives or Corrections. The body of Christ has no connection to the Athenian Church. So why should you?
