Daily Communion with God

Why+is+Prayer+so+Hard+We…+Prayer…+are+busy+are+distracted Why is prayer so hard for the majority of us? Granted, in times of trouble everyone seems to pray to God, Believers and unbelievers alike. When was the last time you had a conversation with God? Many times we pray to God for things we need or want. But how about just talking to God and getting to know him better? John 17:3 says, this is eternal life, that they may know you the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. Don’t you think that you need to know God better and better each day for after all you will be with him for eternity someday? Over the next few weeks I will have more thoughts on prayer. By the way, I think God may be listening tonight in the event you might want to talk to him.

LECTIO DIVINA

When I left the Roman Catholic Church I took only one redeemable thing with me and that was Lectio Divina or how to pray the scriptures.  On my third time through the Bible I made a point of it to search the scriptures daily for biblical prayers. Habakkuk 3:17-19 is perhaps my favorite in all of scripture because it demands us that whatever the circumstance we trust God.

2nd Chronicles 20:12 is another great Lectio Divina. Three enemies are coming against a godly king yet his prayer is fantastic. O LORD, WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO, BUT OUR EYES ARE UPON YOU. How often do we have that sort of prayer Today?

God responded in a most unconventional way. He told Israel to sing praises to God as three fully equipped enemies bore down on them. STAND STILL AND SEE THE SALVATION OF THE LORD. Immediately two of the armies wiped out the third one and then the two remaining armies battled each other till none was left. Israel trusted God through insurmountable odds.

When you pray the Scriptures as you read each word prayerfully focus your full attention on the Lord and deliverance. Offer a seasoning of Thanksgiving for good measure. Pray that His Spirit will allow you to compare spiritual thins with spiritual. You will greatly enrich your prayer life through the scriptures.

PULLING THEM OUT OF THE FIRE

Some save with fear pulling them out of the fire. That’s similar to what firemen do for a living only they put out physical fires. Spiritual fires are different. If you were to see someone in a burning building what would you do? Would you try to rescue them? What would you do if you got right next to them and they told you to get out because they wanted to die. Most people would try to drag them out anyway .even against their approval to save their life. How much do you love a person if you know they’re on spiritual fire and you do nothing to help them? Love means involvement. Love means rescue. And love means intervention. That is what is called faith in shoe leather. Instead of saving their physical life you are intent on saving their soul. James says, he who turns a Sinner from the error of his ways will save a SOUL from death and cover a multitude of sins. Sounds like good advice to me.  That’s what I try to do with Catholics every day.

Spiritual Warfare

spiritual-warfare-prayerPrayer is a most effective weapon of the full armor of God. Prior to any Warfare we must be prayed up fully. We do not know what to do but our eyes are upon God. Though we walk in the flesh we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our Warfare are not carnal, But Mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every other high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to The Obedience of Christ. That is some task but easy to accomplish with God at your side. With God nothing is impossible. Victory! If God is for us, who can be against us?

The Full Armor of God- The Shield

Ephesians 6-16 Taking Up The Shield Of Faith yellowIncoming! Thank God for the shield of faith as it is able to quench the fiery darts of the wicked one. A shield can also be used as an offensive weapon. It can repel the enemy. That is what faith is all about. We have faith in God to repel our enemies. But a large part of faith is prayer and we also pray for our enemies that we may be sons of Our Father in heaven. Prayer also is an offensive weapon of the full armor of God. Who can withstand you if you use the shield of faith, prayer, and the sword of the spirit which is the word of God. You are now equipped with the offensive weapons to deal with any enemy. Praise the Lord.

Defending the Gospel

That is the gospel! Now there are two questions. If you’re ashamed of the Gospel you aren’t likely to defend it. The gospel needs your defense if you believe the message of the Gospel. Why is this necessary? Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. You must be ready to defend the gospel because there are many out there that try to either Limit it or outright deny it. The real gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ who died for us, nailing our sins to the cross and then on the third day rising from the dead. That is the gospel I defend and the one you should defend as well.

Christian Persecution

The Bible says that when you suffer as a Christian you are blessed. For the spirit of God rests upon you. It may not seem that way at the moment because persecution is almost like going into the lions den but afterwards it yields the Peaceable fruit of righteousness. Persecution goes with the territory. Christians in the United States are just beginning to get persecuted but those in the world much more so. Some have even died for their faith. When those college girls were caught by ISIS and asked if they were Jewish or Christian, if they answered yes, they were shot on the spot. That is persecution like we have never known. Just remember in your persecution if we deny Jesus he will deny us. Today the homosexual agenda has flipped. They are still persecuted somewhat but those that stand against them are persecuted more. When people come against your faith those tormentors are blasphemed but on your part, you are glorified. When we suffer for Christ we are not to be ashamed. Instead we are to glorify God for this. We are in the last days and Christians will begin to suffer more and more for our faith in this evil world we find ourselves. Some states are now trying to ban the Bible and it is harder to get a Bible on the internet. The prince of the power of the air is doing his best to weaken your faith. But stand strong in the strength of your faith in these ever-increasing times of turmoil. In the world you will suffer tribulation which include troubles and pressures, but of good cheer for Christ has overcome the world.

When You Pray- ?

IMG_20180206_073834When we pray, we are to go into our closet. By closet I mean into a private place where all outside distractions are gone. There was a time when Jesus prayed that he went off by himself to a mountain where he could be in communication with God. Some children pray to God under their covers which is their private place. When we do this, then God who sees in secret will reward us openly. It has been said that prayer is a little like eating salted peanuts. The more you do it, the more you want to do it. And remember, according to Ephesians 6, prayer is one part of the offensive weapon of the full armor of God.“we-do-not-know-what-to-do.-But-

Jesus asked, could you not pray with me one hour? Well? Could you?

EXPOSE THEM- Ephesians 5:11

174c7e1caed51cf0494ec5822341afc3 This verse is what my whole website is about. For the longest time I have wanted to Showcase this verse. Have no Fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. When we encounter the enemy to provide them biblical truth, that is not Fellowship, but spiritual warfare. The only offensive weapons we use against the enemy is the word of God, which is the sword of the spirit, and prayer. Our Warfare is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and Powers. My gift from the Holy Ghost has been the Discerning of spirits. This is not an easy gift to exercise. We must bring the works of darkness into biblical light. Everyone practicing evil hates the light. They do not come to the light lest their deeds be exposed. There’s that word exposed again. The weapons of my Warfare are not carnal, But Mighty in God for pulling down strongholds. To do that involves fervent prayer. I hope to be able to continue that for the rest of my life.

Making Disciples

Making disciples is an investment in someone’s Eternal future. Witnessing Christ should be something every Christian wants to do. The reason we don’t do this is much of our Christianity is Expressed within the four walls of the church. That seems to be a Christians safety zone. Jeremiah said in Chapter 7 that you can’t live like hell 6 days a week and then come and worship Christ on Sunday as if nothing were wrong. Making disciples means an investment of your time in to the lives of others for their Eternal good. Too many Christians are couch potatoes. They would rather watch The Big Bang Theory instead of helping others grow in Christ. Again making disciples is an investment into another person’s life. As for your own Christian walk?

Try this napkin on for size and determine if it fits your lifestyle. In the long run it will make you even more effective in making disciples.

What is the Media?

Why is the media like a devil? They like to stir up things. The American economy is doing great, stock markets have risen to Historic levels, we’re demanding a fair share of costs from our NATO allies, we’ve begun negotiations with North Korea, and we’re establishing Fair economic policies with other countries putting America first for a change. And yet the media continually talks about the negative side of President Trump. America seems to be like the cartoon character Pogo.

If the Republican ideas are working what will record unemployment at an all-time low, how did the Democrats win in November? Democrats are obstructing everything and have ended civility telling American people to harass Republican lawmakers! What is going on here? On one side are positive economic factors and a stronger image to the world and on the other side of the Isle trying to take down this president. Why? Don’t they like economic success? Don’t they like America being strong to the world? Remember Barack Obama’s Red Line in the Sand with Syria and chemical weapons. Well that line was crossed and Obama did nothing. He was not able to carry out his threats. He spoke Softly and carried a licorice twist instead of a big stick. This president has done what he said and America is not only safer but more prosperous as well so why would anyone want to sabotage something like this? Are we like Pogo says? Are we Our Own Worst Enemy? And why do Democrats want open borders? Democrats don’t seem to understand the meaning of the word illegal. The media takes any story and Spins it in whatever Direction They wish. My favorite is when they tell a complete story and then say they aren’t able to confirm it even though they just said it anyway. With all the fake news going around you just don’t know when a story is true anymore.

Discerning of Spirits

disual-giftsThe spiritual gift that I received from the Holy Spirit is the Discerning of spirits. Expose the unfruitful works of darkness. This was not an asked for gift. I am trying to exercise this gift as the holy spirit would want me to. Solid meat belongs to those who are of full age, that is those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both Good and Evil. When I first became a Christian I had an enormous appetite for the word of God. I not only read the word. I studied it. I went behind the English to the Greek and Hebrew. For example, the word exercised above means by habitual use in the Greek. The Bible commands me to continually test the spirits to see if they are of God. I do a tremendous amount of study on Cults and the Holy Spirit provides me with the ability to discern both the Good and Evil of a Doctrine. Exposing Christian error is next on my agenda and comes under the concept of warning the body of Christ. I cannot do a thing without the abiding power of the Holy Spirit. This is my gift to the body of Christ by the Holy Spirit.
