The Bible says that when you suffer as a Christian you are blessed. For the spirit of God rests upon you. It may not seem that way at the moment because persecution is almost like going into the lions den but afterwards it yields the Peaceable fruit of righteousness. Persecution goes with the territory. Christians in the United States are just beginning to get persecuted but those in the world much more so. Some have even died for their faith. When those college girls were caught by ISIS and asked if they were Jewish or Christian, if they answered yes, they were shot on the spot. That is persecution like we have never known. Just remember in your persecution if we deny Jesus he will deny us. Today the homosexual agenda has flipped. They are still persecuted somewhat but those that stand against them are persecuted more. When people come against your faith those tormentors are blasphemed but on your part, you are glorified. When we suffer for Christ we are not to be ashamed. Instead we are to glorify God for this. We are in the last days and Christians will begin to suffer more and more for our faith in this evil world we find ourselves. Some states are now trying to ban the Bible and it is harder to get a Bible on the internet. The prince of the power of the air is doing his best to weaken your faith. But stand strong in the strength of your faith in these ever-increasing times of turmoil. In the world you will suffer tribulation which include troubles and pressures, but of good cheer for Christ has overcome the world.
Once God had delivered Israel into the Promised Land you would think things had gotten better. Instead Israel began whining about the food they left behind in Egypt. God has provided them with manna for substance but it wasn’t good enough for Israel as they wanted meat to eat. So God gave them the desires of their heart. He sent quail in from the sea and the one that gathered least gathered ten homers. Homer’s were a unit of measurement. God provided them enough meat for a whole month and they ate until it came through their nostrils. While the meat was still between teeth God let them choke on it and many died. Craving for graves was what they actually got for not trusting God. Don’t let your Cravings get the best of you. Big deal. The one that gathered least got 10 homers but Barry Bonds once got 73 homers!
Moses had to endure a lot in the 40 years in the wilderness. There was constant complaining about what Israel had left behind in Egypt. The people were ungrateful and were not satisfied with the Manna that God provided for them. The only two that saw the Promised Land was Joshua and Caleb plus all the children. 10 spies were sent to check out the land and only two reported it to be a land flowing with milk and honey. The other ten spies reported all the negatives of the land. Moses never made it to the promised land or at least that one. You know how Moses endured all the complaints? He saw Jesus who was invisible to everyone else. Moses saw the cross before there was a cross according to Hebrews 11. How do you endure your daily struggles? Jesus said that we had our peace in him even though the world would give us troubles and pressures. Be of good courage for Jesus has overcome the world.
I recently heard about a Baptist minister who confessed to his church that he had been a child abuser while being a minister. He gave a heart rendering sermon and there were many tears in that congregation. He had been their Minister for 20 years. At the end of the service he told his flock he had to step down from being their minister. He was surrounded by people praying for him. The next Sunday he attended services with his wife as a member of the congregation but there was a change. People began staring at him. Their initial reaction to him had changed after it had a week in set in on them. And there were Whispers about what he had done. He also told authorities what he had done and was arrested a week later. His wife actually had to move out of the community because she was no longer loved by the congregation. There is a saying that the church is the only army in the world that has a reputation for deserting it’s wounded. The minister actually did what was right but his congregation did not. Was his open confession a good idea? He did what he had been taught in the Bible. With confession at times there are consequences and he was willing to face them. His wife had nothing to do with the charge and she stayed loyal to him until his release. It was his church community that let him down. Let he that is without sin cast the first stone. Jesus said upon the cross, father forgive them for they know not what they do. That minister was also upon his cross in his confession to his congregation. After 20 years with them you would think there would have been more compassion for him. Yes he did sin but Christ forgave him immediately. And yes there were consequences which he faced in the strength of his faith. He could have gone on lying to his congregation. If you do not forgive other people their trespasses neither will your heavenly father forgive your trespasses.
In contrast to this hatred the Bible and Jesus Christ specifically admonishes Christians to, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those that spitefully use and persecute you that you may be sons of your father in Heaven. Quite the contrast wouldn’t you say?
Romans 11:26 says, hardening or blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in and then all Israel will be saved.
Actually the all of Israel that will be saved is one third going through the tribulation hour. The other two thirds will die in the tribulation. They will be tried as Through Fire. God always has his Remnant people.
Despite all this Christians are to pray for the Peace of Jerusalem. We are to love our enemy perceived or otherwise. My prayer for Israel is that they will be saved and some of them will be saved.
Again despite how Jews perceive us we are to love them in return and pray for them on a daily basis. If God will grant them repentance to hear us maybe some will be saved and have a whole new outlook on the Gentiles.
